    Counselling Service The school benefits from an independent counselling service (provided by Familyworks). An additional counsellor is funded by the School. The Counsellors come in 3 days a week. Pupils can make a self-referral using one of the two drop boxes, or via email at suspastoral114@c2kni.net ; additionally, a concerned parent or member of staff is able to make a recommendation to Mrs Moore via email at suspastoral114@c2kni.net . 1/2

    Music A timetable of musical groups is available on noticeboards in the Music Department. A list of Musical activities is available on the Extracurricular Timetable - click HERE Concert Band The band rehearses each Monday after school and performs at Christmas time in local venues around Holywood and also at the Spring Concert in the Ulster Hall. Pupils in Years 8-14 are welcome to attend. Junior Choir Junior choir is made up of pupils in Years 8-10 and has around 130 pupils attending on a weekly basis. Their performances include carol singing at Bloomfields shopping centre and the annual Spring Concert in the Ulster Hall. Their repertoire is wide ranging. ​ Junior Singers This is a group of around 25 pupils in Years 9 & 10 in Junior Choir who successfully auditioned to be part of this small choral group. Jazz Group This lively swing group play a variety of gigs including Victoria Square at Christmas and the Black Box Studio in Belfast. Their extensive repertoire includes well-known film themes, big band sounds and contemporary Jazz. Brass Group The school brass group rehearse each week at break time and is open to pupils in Years 11-14. Their performances include the school carol service, prize day and the Spring Concert in the Ulster Hall. They have a varied repertoire of well known popular melodies. Sullivan Singers This is a senior SATB choir for pupils in Years 11-14 who perform a wide variety of choral repertoire. Along with the annual school musical events, Sullivan Singers enjoy performing in the wider community including performances at the Harbour Commissioner’s Office at Christmas and local venues. Senior Girls Singers This is a Senior All Girls Choir for pupils in Years 11-14 who perform at all annual school musical events. Traditional Group This Irish traditional group has been a popular group in the school for many years. Orchestra The school orchestra is open to pupils in Years 8-14 and meets after school each week on a Thursday. It has around 80 members and performs a mixture of classical, film and popular music. Musical Ensembles There are a number of smaller musical ensembles which meet on a weekly basis. These include string quartets, trios, rock groups and vocal ensembles. Theory Classes Pupils have the opportunity to attend online theory classes after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. ​

    Religious Studies Departmental Aims Religious Studies plays a significant role in the curriculum and in the development of the individual pupil. It provides pupils with the opportunities to develop their personal understanding, moral character and enhance their spiritual and ethical awareness. This is done by enabling them to learn about, discuss, evaluate and learn from religious beliefs, practices and values by supplying opportunities to engage with challenging questions about the meaning and purpose of life and their place in society and the world around them. Religious Studies is taught at all levels in the school. It is a compulsory subject up to end of Key Stage 4. Thereafter, pupils may choose to continue to AS or A2 level.     Safer Schools App The Safer Schools NI App is provided to our school by the Department of Education and INEQE Safeguarding Group. Benefits ​ Provides you with easy-to-follow steps to make your home and devices safer. Keeps you up to date with the current online trends, threats, and risks to young people. This information is sent directly to your device. Provides you with the information you need to know on social media and gaming platforms, helping you understand the latest buzzwords and learn how to set privacy and parental settings on platforms like Call of Duty, Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok Offers expert guidance to help you navigate important issues such as bullying, managing mental health, image sharing and harmful content. You will be given practical tips on how to approach these conversations with your son/daughter. Gives you access to your school’s latest news, updated policies, and calendar all within the App. The Online Safety section will signpost you to help and support when you need it. To download and login to the Safer Schools NI App, please follow the steps below. Downloading the App ​ Step 1 - If you are using an iOS device, go to the Apple App Store and search ‘Safer Schools NI’. If you are using an Android device, go to the Google Play Store and search ‘Safer Schools NI’. Step 2 - Select ‘Download’. Creating An Account: ​ Step 1 - Select ‘Parent / Carer’ on the login screen of your App. Step 2 - To create an account, click 'Register here' and input your full name, email and password you wish to use. You will also be asked to confirm your password. Once you are ready, click 'Register' and this will create your account. Step 3 - After you register, you will be asked to read and agree to the Terms and Conditions. After reading and scrolling to the bottom, the ‘I agree’ button will be available to select. Step 4 - Type Sullivan Upper in the search bar and click 'Continue'. Input the Entry Code 7652 and click 'Submit'. Pupils will receive guidance on how to download the pupil version of the app in September.

    SIMS Parent App 2023-24 The SIMS Parent App is a secure online service designed to provide a convenient way for sharing information with parents. This App will enable parents to see accessible information about their child in real time. It is hoped that in time more information will be accessible and that this will help parents support their child in their learning. ​ Benefits of the App for parents: all School Reports will be published through SIMS Parents App only , paper copies of all school reports will no longer be issued but reports will be available to download within the SIMS Parent App; ability to check and amend the personal data in the Data Collection til e (no longer any need to email the school with changes to address, phone number or email address of contacts); view the school term dates ; view the school calendar dates (this information will no longer be available on the school website); view your child’s attendance ; view your child’s timetable . view your child's achievement points . This service is designed for use by all parents/guardians and parents will be able to access the information remotely, through a PC or mobile devices, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones. SIMS Parent App will be accessible to parents/guardians who have parental responsibility of pupils in Years 8-14. Parents will only receive a registration email if there is an email address assigned to them on our system. A SIMS Parent App - Set-up Guide & FAQs can be found below. Please read, and follow, the instructions very carefully . Parents should ensure they use the 'Register with an External Account' button and use either Facebook, Google, Microsoft or Twitter to register – see pages 4-6 of the Set-Up guide. Parents should NOT USE the SIM ID or Apple ID buttons as the registration will fail. There has been very positive feedback from other schools who use this App and we believe this to be a very useful tool for parental engagement.
