Sullivan Upper Fencing Club enjoyed notable success at the Irish Youth Championships last weekend, held in the sports centre of Dublin’s Technological University in Blanchardstown, with the club’s fencers producing an excellent set of results and securing four medals from six competitors.
In the U17 Women’s Foil, Lydia Hamilton earned a bronze medal, finishing joint third following a strong performance that took her as far as the semi-finals.
In the U14 Men’s Foil, William Penny also finished in joint third place to take bronze, while Flynn Woolsey-Jensen and Shion Suto-Murphy finished just outside the medals in 5th and 6th.
The club enjoyed further success in the U14 Women’s Foil, where Grace Tsang secured the silver medal, while Olivia Morse claimed bronze, ensuring a double podium finish for SU.
These results reflect the training and commitment of the fencers involved and the continued strength of junior fencing within SUFC. Congratulations to Lydia, Grace, Olivia, William, Shion and Flynn on their performances against the best young fencers in Ireland and for representing the school with distinction.
