Sullivan Fencing:
2019 Irish Intermediate Fencing Championships
Five Sullivan fencers travelled to University College Dublin on Sunday 6 October 2019 to compete in the Irish Intermediate Championships, the first event for them in the Irish 2019/20 fencing season.
In the women’s foil event Izzy Evans fought her way through to the quarter finals, winning a tough last 16 fight 15:14 on her way to finish 8th, just outside the medals. Angharad King and Rachel McKillen finished 15th and 16th. In the men’s foil Alexander Penny and Keir Murray finished 17th and 25th. All fenced well against older competitors and gained valuable experience of senior fencing.
The next event for SUFC fencers will be the North West Open senior competition in the Ulster University Coleraine Campus on 19 October 2019.
