WELCOME TO THE LIBRARY
The sunlight of literature can touch hearts and souls . . . (Michael Morpurgo)

Our school library is a well resourced centre, open to all students and staff from 8.30 every morning to 4.30 every afternoon. With thousands of books on our shelves from fiction to non-fiction and reference, you’re sure to find just what you are looking for. Whether it is reading for pleasure or researching topical information to help you complete a project, the library should be your first port of call.
The library is staffed by the librarians, Mrs Gorringe and Mrs Drennan, but run for the pupils, so we’re always happy to hear your ideas on how we can make it better, and to talk to you about what you are reading. If you’ve just read a fantastic book but we don’t have it, please tell us and the next time we are ordering new books, we will ensure it is considered for purchase!
If you are a new Year 8 student, we welcome you and your class with a Library Induction Talk to introduce ourselves and help you find your way around the shelves, ensuring you make the most of the resources on offer. If you are a new student in Years 9 to 14, or a new teacher, please do introduce yourself and we will happily show you the ropes! Next door to the library is the SEON Room (Sullivan Education Online Network) which is equipped with a suite of computers to facilitate research online. You may use the computers for school work at times when it is not being used by classes.
All students, teachers and staff are members of the library, and all are able to borrow books to read at home – you’re allowed to have them for 2 weeks at a time. If someone else has the book you want, you can ask to reserve it so that you can have it as soon as it’s returned.
AUTHOR VISITS
From time to time we invite authors to come and talk to our students and during the 2010 -2011 school year we were well entertained by Chris Bradford, Alex Scarrow and Colin Bateman.
