MUSIC DEPARTMENT

22 peripatetic music tutors teach a variety of instruments including:
Piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, tenor horn, baritone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, singing.

At present over 300 pupils are taking individual instrumental lessons each week.

ACHIEVEMENTS ASSEMBLY
Congratulations to all those pupils who received Junior Honours badges, Half Colours and Full Colours for music at the recent achievement assembly. Well done also to those pupils who were awarded music progress shields.

CLASS MUSIC
Years 8, 9 & 10 have two periods of music each week. This term Year 8 are learning about the elements of music, pupils in Year 9 are studying chords and Year 10 pupils are being introduced to Jazz styles.
Numbers of pupils studying music in years 11 – 14 continue to grow.
In Year 11 pupils have begun the GCSE music course
In Year 12 will take the GCSE exam in June
10 pupils are studying music at AS Level and 8 pupils are working on the   A2 Level music course.
